Jodie is a lifelong New Yorker who married her high school sweetheart and is raising her children in Manhattan. Through her two children, who have been Zinc students, she has observed the profound impact of REAL learning and Boomeranging. …my favorite book

Home Fire by Kamila Shamsie: A 21st century adaptation of Antigone, this book explores the intersection of birthplace and national identity, the conflict between family loyalty and assimilation,  and the crisis of masculinity and its consequences.

…a favorite place I’ve visited

Delos, Greece: There’s a special feeling there that explains why people believed it to be the birthplace of Apollo. I also love Roman ruins anywhere in the world. So far, I’ve been fortunate to see them in England, Greece, Italy, France, Jordan, Spain, Israel and Morocco.

…eight people living or dead I’d invite to my ideal dinner party

My great grandparents. I’d love to be able to talk to these brave people who left everything they knew to start new lives in America.

…something I can’t stop thinking about

What I will cook the next time my family is together around the dinner table. How to preserve the bounty of my little garden to share with my friends.
