Dan

Director of Intensive Studies, tutor, teacher

Dan has been tutoring and teaching since 2007. Dan attended Duke University, where he studied neuroscience and theatre (after formal study, they require you to spell it with an -re). He started his teaching career at the historic St. Paul’s School in London, where he dabbled in obscure racquet sports and was amused by the fact that everyone called him “sir.” Dan is a big believer in personal growth, and he is currently learning Spanish, honing his Photoshop skills, and working on a PhD in Cognitive Science at Columbia University.
…a text I love to teach

Consider the Lobster by David Foster Wallace. You think it’s one thing. And then it’s another, much deeper, thing.

…a favorite place I’ve visited

New Zealand on my honeymoon.  We found several hobbits and rode horses through rivers en route to feeling like wizards.

…eight people living or dead I’d invite to my ideal dinner party

Freud, My mother, Seinfeld, Dr. Seuss, Mike Krzyzewski, Bill Murray, Paul McCartney, Kim Solow

…something I can’t stop thinking about

The vastness and complexity of human consciousness.
